TROPICAL FISH.

Julie's Pets stock a large range of tropical fish, cold water fish, fish food, fish tanks and fish accessories at the Newton Aycliffe based pet shop and a large range of tropical and cold water fish accessories at their market stalls at Catterick and Billingham.

To start with, you will need to choose a tank that is suitable for your house and the number and type of fish you are wanting to keep. Don't forget that your fish may grow at different rates and to different sizes.

Julie's Pets have a very wide range and large stock of filters, gravel, plants, tank ornaments and a good stock of fish. Starter packs and complete set up systems are available, Visit the pet shop or pet stalls for details.

Once you have bought your tank and accessories, it will take some time for your tank and fish to settle down. It is a good idea to buy just a few fish such as Platies at first, as they are a very hardy fish. Don't be tempted by the more exotic species at first as you could be disappointed.

It is also important that you buy the healthiest fish and with this aim, Julie's Pets, Newton Aycliffe only buy the best quality fish and have a quarantine tank to separate the unfortunate fish that are having trouble from the main stock.

When you have finally bought your tank and fish, you must 'eqalise the water' It is very important, because if the fish are suddenly introduced to colder temperature it could be disastrous. Be careful, and leave the fish in the bag in the tank for 15 - 20 minutes.
